2.3.4 Loading gauges
This annex provides technical specifications for international loading gauges for combined transports and the Multipurpose wagon gauge. The annex also illustrates the route sections on the Norwegian rail network where the gauges are permitted.
International loading gauges for combined transports
International loading gauge for semi-trailers
Semi-trailers which are to be transported on railway wagons must be built according to the UIC-596-5 requirements with regard to external dimensions.

Table 1: Technical data
| Parametre | Value |
|---|---|
| Standard wagon height (top of rail–floor of wheel recess) | 33 cm |
| Distance ”a” (between the floor of the wheel recess and the king pin on a standard wagon) | 113 cm |
| Static gague width |
260 cm |
| Gauge height | 33–440 cm over top of rail |
Table 2: Labeling semi-trailers
| Label | Width |
|---|---|
| P 77 | ≤ 2,50 m |
| P 407 | > 2,50 m and ≤ 2,60 m |

Permitted CTPN gauges
The following maps illustrate the permitted Combined Transport Profile Numbers (CTPN) on the Norwegian rail network rail networkThe rail network managed by Bane NOR, which is the entire Norwegian rail network.. The different numbers specify which semi-trailers and containers may be transported on each particular route section.

Multipurpose wagon gauge
The Multipurpose wagon gauge is a statically specified gauge with additional height for tall, closed freight-wagons.

| Parameter | Verdi |
|---|---|
| Akselavstand | 9 m |

Strekninger der Multipurpose-profil kan benyttes
Wagons with a multipurpose wagon gauge, or with a similar static gauge and a similar lateral and vertical movement, may be used on the route sections illustrated in Figure 6.
